Also he is teacher of ICTD from Universidad Mayor de San Andres in Bolivia. He acted as Executive Director of the Brazilian Chamber of e-Commerce, which he co-founded in 2001. Prior to that, he worked for the Federal e-Government Committee of Brazil, at the Ministry of Planning, where managed the main public Internet portals. Previously, he held positions as Regional New Business Executive for Lowe & Partners, Latin America, and as Corporate Communications and Marketing Director for StarMedia Network. As a consultant, specialized in digital economy, worked with national and international institutions, such as SEBRAE, APEX, Softex, BIRD, IADB, Unctad, MERCOSUL and others, besides editing three books of articles, collaborating as source and columnist for various publications, presenting radio programs at Eldorado and CBN, as well as participating as speaker in events in Brazil and abroad. Beatriz has been a member of Organizing Committees for National and International events associated to Information Technologies. She is a member of national commissions in ICT-related topics, such as the National Editorial Council. Ms Alonso represents Cuba in the Country Code Top Level Domain of Latin America (LACTLD). She participated as a member of the Cuban delegation in the 1er and 2nd phases of the World Summit of the Information Society in Geneva in 2003 and in Tunisia in 2005. She has written and published more than 25 articles and manuals on topics related to Information and Communication Technologies. She leads The Program “Developing the Cuban Science Network”, a digital network of contents, products and services resulting from Science and Technological Innovation.
