WSA Expert Panel
National pre-selections for the WSA-Mobile run through experts in respective countries, the WSA Expert Panel. The Expert Panel is selected in an open nomination process every two years by the WSA Board of Directors.
The national expert has responsibility and decision making power over who gets to be nominated as the national best. He or she provides the nominations of the best mobile applications/products from his/her country, according to the 8 WSA-Mobile categories and to the guidelines of the WSA.
It is the responsibility of the national expert to consult as widely as possible, to act transparently and fairly, not to be guided by vested interests and to ensure the integrity of national selection.
The national expert is the reference person for all interested parties from his/her country and is responsible for a smooth functioning of the national registration process and completing the nominations.
Nominations and selection strategy
Based on the experience and processes of the World Summit Award since 2003, the selection of the national best practice examples in m-Content can be made in four different ways. Ordered by preference these are:
- A national contest, based on the WSA rules and procedures, or
- A cooperation with an existing national contest, or
- Selection through a national committee/board, established by the expert, or
- Selection based solely on the personal professional expertise of the national expert
Eight products (one per category) shall be nominated and their data entered into the WSA online database. All proposed products will be evaluated by the WSA-Mobile Grand Jury, which will make the selection on the five winners in each category.
