His Highness the Amir of the state of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has rewarded the winners of Kuwait e-Award winners in a special awarding ceremony that was held at Bayan Palace June 22, 2010, and was attended by Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah and several other senior Amiri Diwan officials. Kuwait e-Award is an annual contest, focusing on enriching Kuwaiti e-Content, organized by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), in collaboration with the World Summit Award (WSA). And the prizes rewarded are cash worth of 175,000 $ every year.       

During the ceremony, His Highness the Amir gave a speech congratulating the winners and wishing them the best of luck, stressing on the significance of spurring scientific creativity with a view to achieving technological advancement and boosting Kuwait's scientific and technological development, thus contributing to the country's national development.
KFAS Director General Prof. Ali Al-Shamlan and Secretary General of Kuwait e-Award Manar AlHashash delivered speeches during the awarding ceremony. In her speech, Manar AlHashash stressed on the importance of e-Content to bridge the digital divide, and to help societies develop in many fields, such as education, health, empowering youth and women, creating jobs and increasing productivity and efficiency, which will help Kuwait achieve the MDGs.

The winning projects were from Government agencies, Private sector, NGO's and individuals from Kuwait.
Source: Manar AlHashash is member of the Board of Directors of WSA. Manar is also an active member in UN GAID since it was established in 2006. She is a member of the High Level panel of Advisors, and an eLeader for Youth and ICT at UN GAID.
