WSA starts national pre-selection
You can now enter your product for the national pre-selection of the World Summit Award. The WSA is the mother award of the WSA-mobile, held every two years since 2003. Five winners in each of the 8 categories will be able to present their product on a world stage and gain international standing and reputation. “The WSA offers a level playing field for developers from all 160 countries participating,” stresses WSA Chairman Peter A. Bruck. “That is what is special about the WSA. As a United Nations-mandated initiative, it showcases digital contents in different languages and designs from all over the world as to show that great developments can come from any country, no matter what size.”
The multi-level decision process
The World Summit Award is a global initiative to select and promote the world’s best digital contents. The national selection is either done through direct nomination by the national expert, by a committee or by a national competition.
To suggest your project for nomination, you have to contact the National Expert of your country. Projects can be submitted to the WSA office until March, 25th. Since the pre-selection takes some time, some countries have announced earlier deadlines.
After the nominations are complete, an international jury will come together in Hong Kong for a multiday-session to evaluate the submissions on the basis of content and creativity. Jury members come from all continents and have backgrounds in the creative industries, telecommunication, advertising, journalism and research, as well as in teaching. The Jury will be hosted by the Internet Professional Association (iProA).
Show the world your great web content, outstanding app or superb digital media.
Winners will have the chance to present their projects, network with business partners and meet other experts in the field of ICT at the WSA 2011 Winners event in fall.
First details about the events will be announced soon. To learn about the Winner’s celebrations of the past years click here.
